What we do

Three jobs that stop water
getting into your home

Tile roofs don’t usually fail all at once — they fail at the joins. These are the repairs that make the difference.

Ridge caps with fresh black flexible pointing
01

Ridge Cap Repointing

Old mortar pointing goes brittle, cracks and falls out — and every crack is a path straight into your roof cavity. We rake out the perished pointing and lay a new flexible pointing compound over the ridge and hip caps, sealing them watertight and stopping caps working loose in the wind.

  • Perished mortar removed, not just painted over
  • Flexible pointing — moves with the roof instead of cracking
  • Re-bedding of loose caps where needed

02

Valley Flashing Replacement

Valleys carry the most water on your roof, so they rust out first. We lift the tiles, strip the old rusted valley iron and install new flashing — then remodel the bottom of the valley so water runs cleanly into the gutter instead of banking up behind debris and finding its way inside.

  • Rusted-through valley iron fully replaced
  • Bottom of the valley reshaped for better water flow
  • Tiles cut back and re-laid neatly over the new flashing

03

High-Pressure Roof Cleaning

Lichen and moss don’t just look bad. Roof tiles are porous, and the growth holds moisture against the tile and works into the surface until the tile itself starts breaking down. We high-pressure clean the whole roof back to bare tile — and the difference from the street is hard to miss.

  • Lichen, moss and years of grime stripped off
  • Protects the integrity of porous roof tiles
  • Gutters and valleys flushed out as we go

Service 03

High-pressure cleaning

Years of lichen and moss stripped back to clean terracotta — same roof, same afternoon.

Service 02

Valley flashing replacement

Tiles lifted, the old rusted valley pulled out and new flashing run in — with the bottom reshaped so the water actually leaves the roof.

Ridge cap repointing

What perished pointing looks like up close — and what it looks like once it’s been done properly.

Before Terracotta roof with old, weathered ridge cap pointing
Original mortar pointing, weathered and washing out of the joint.
Before Close up of cracked and crumbling mortar along a hip cap
Cracked and crumbling along the hip — every one of those gaps takes water.
Before Perished rust coloured pointing between charcoal ridge caps
Perished pointing on a charcoal roof, broken back to the bedding.
After Ridge caps sealed with new black flexible pointing
Re-pointed and sealed — a continuous, flexible line with nowhere for water to get in.
After Fresh black pointing along the ridge next to older white pointing
The black is ours. The white further along is the original pointing from when the roof was built — a straight side-by-side of new work against what it replaces.

Worth a look

Signs your roof needs
attention now

Most of what we repair was cheap to fix a year earlier. If you can tick any of these, it’s worth a free inspection before winter.

Water stains on ceilings

Brown rings or bubbling paint mean water has already been getting in for a while.

Cracked or missing pointing

Look along the ridge line from the ground. Gaps, cracks or crumbs of mortar in the gutter are the tell.

Green or grey growth

Lichen and moss hold moisture against porous tiles and slowly break the surface down.

Rust streaks in the valley

Orange staining where two roof sections meet means the valley iron is on its way out.

Loose or slipped caps

A cap that rocks under foot isn’t bedded any more — and in a Perth storm it becomes a projectile.

Debris in the gutters

Sand and mortar grit washing down means the pointing above is breaking up.
